Cadence Design Faces Charges for Exporting Tech to Chinese Military

Cadence Design will plead guilty to allegations of unlawfully exporting semiconductor design tools to a Chinese military-affiliated university, according to the Department of Justice.

The company has agreed to pay around $140 million in combined criminal and civil penalties as well as forfeitures, the DoJ announced on Monday.

This move comes as part of a broader effort to enforce regulations concerning the export of sensitive technologies that could enhance military capabilities of foreign nations.
