Singapore's Internal Security Department (ISD) has issued a stark warning about the nation's heightened terror threat levels. The evolving landscape of extremist ideologies, coupled with the misuse of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, is being exploited to spread radical narratives and recruit followers online.

The Singapore Terrorism Threat Assessment Report 2025 emphasizes the impact of global conflicts, such as the Israeli-Palestinian strife, in intensifying extremist beliefs. Social media and various online platforms, including WhatsApp and Instagram, are increasingly being used for radicalisation, drawing in younger populations.

From mid-2024 to mid-2025, eight Singaporeans self-radicalised through online content, five of them aged 20 or younger. The ISD calls for stronger partnerships with technology companies to better regulate content and facilitate protective measures against extremist exploitation online.
