Russian Forces Claim Capture of Chasiv Yar Amid Ongoing Conflict
Russia's defence ministry announced the capture of Chasiv Yar in Ukraine's Donetsk region, although this claim remains unverified. The Ukrainian general staff confirmed attacks near Chasiv Yar. DeepState mapping shows Ukrainian forces holding the western area of the town, located near Bakhmut, captured by Russia in 2023.

In a recent development, Russia's defence ministry announced on Thursday that Russian forces have taken control of the town of Chasiv Yar, located in Ukraine's Donetsk region. However, this information has not been independently confirmed.
Contrastingly, Ukraine's general staff reported ongoing attacks by Russian forces in areas adjacent to Chasiv Yar, indicating a continued struggle for control in the region.
Despite Russia's claims, DeepState, a reliable Ukrainian open-source mapping site, depicts Ukrainian forces maintaining control over the western section of Chasiv Yar. The town sits west of Bakhmut, a location of a significant prior battle that Russia captured earlier in 2023.
