In a stark critique of the state government's approach, Jai Ram Thakur, the opposition leader in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, labeled the four-day Cabinet meeting a 'tamasha' or spectacle. Thakur indicated that the meeting's agenda could have been addressed in a single, extended session.
Focusing on the disaster-hit Mandi district, notably his Seraj Assembly segment, Thakur reported temporary road repairs but stressed that many link roads remain blocked. He announced plans to raise these concerns in the forthcoming Monsoon session of the Assembly starting August 18.
Thakur criticized the state for inadequate responses in aiding disaster-stricken areas, particularly affecting apple growers due to road blockades. He personally coordinated with private contractors to deploy machinery for clearing roads, accusing the government of insufficient action.
