There was a moment of alarm at the Elamannoor post office as a parcel burst open, spewing smoke on Saturday morning. The brief explosion ensued while the parcel was being stamped, causing panic among the staff, who immediately alerted the local authorities.
Upon investigation, the police discovered that the parcel contained boxes filled with airgun pellets. The incident transpired when the pressure from stamping reportedly caused some pellets to explode, as confirmed by authorities from the Adoor police station.
The package, mailed from Gujarat by an army man named Jithin, was intended for delivery to his residence near Elamannoor. Efforts are underway to establish contact with Jithin, but so far, no official case has been registered in relation to the occurrence, the police stated.
