After more than 26 years on the run, Raj Kishore, a man convicted of kidnapping and murdering an eight-year-old boy, has been apprehended by the Delhi Police Crime Branch. Kishore, originally from Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh, was captured in Ghaziabad, putting an end to a decades-long manhunt.
The convict was initially sentenced to life imprisonment in 1996 for the murder of a garment factory owner's son. He was granted a six-week parole in 1999 but failed to return to jail, leading to his subsequent evasion and being declared a proclaimed offender in 2014, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Kumar Yadav stated.
Despite numerous efforts to capture him, Kishore eluded authorities by constantly changing locations. Over the years, he lived in cities such as Patna and Jaipur, working odd jobs. His eventual capture was the result of a strategic police operation during which he was drawn out of hiding in Ghaziabad.
