In a strong statement, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma assured citizens that no Indian or Assamese person would face eviction amid the state's ongoing land clearance operations. He emphasized that only illegal foreigners and doubtful citizens would be targeted in these eviction drives.
Speaking during an election campaign in the Bodoland Territorial Region, Sarma aimed to calm the anxieties of non-tribal residents. He underscored that a separate department handles eviction matters, and no Indian will be displaced under his watch. Sarma reiterated his dedication to safeguarding the equal rights of all citizens.
The Chief Minister's assurance comes as the government carries out eviction operations to reclaim public land, including a massive drive in Golaghat district that displaced numerous families.
