A 23-year-old transgender individual in Maharashtra's Thane district reportedly died by suicide, leading to the arrest of an auto-rickshaw driver. The police have charged him with abetment, sources revealed on Tuesday.

The victim, who resided in Bhiwandi town, was in a relationship with the 28-year-old suspect. Assistant Police Inspector Shivaji Patil noted that the accused frequently called and harassed the victim.

According to police reports, this harassment allegedly led the victim to hang himself on August 1. Following a complaint by the victim's brother, police arrested the suspect on Sunday and charged him under section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
