Ukrainian Drone Attack Ignites Fires in Russia's Rostov Region
An overnight drone attack by Ukraine set multiple fires in Russia's Rostov region, including at a power substation, according to regional officials. The fires were successfully extinguished, and no injuries were reported. Russia claims to have destroyed 24 Ukrainian drones, says the defense ministry.

An overnight drone attack by Ukraine triggered fires in Russia's southern Rostov region, notably at a power substation, as confirmed by the acting regional governor on Tuesday. No injuries were reported, and the fire affecting a 500-square-meter area has been extinguished, according to Yuri Slyusar, Rostov's acting governor, who communicated via the Telegram messaging app.
Russia's defense ministry announced that its forces destroyed 24 Ukrainian drones overnight, including seven over the frequently targeted Rostov region. The ministry disclosed only the number of drones destroyed, without mentioning how many were actually launched by Ukraine.
Reuters has not been able to independently verify the reports, and there hasn't been an immediate response from Kyiv. Ukraine regularly asserts that its operations inside Russia focus on undermining key infrastructure supporting Moscow's war efforts, serving as retaliation for persistent Russian strikes on Ukraine.
