Christian Michel James, the alleged intermediary in the high-profile AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scandal, has told a Delhi court that it is unsafe for him to exit the capital. James, who has been embroiled in legal battles, expressed his fears of facing new charges upon stepping outside the city.
Despite securing bail in the CBI case from the Supreme Court and in the ED case from the Delhi High Court, James remains in Tihar jail. He awaits the renewal of his passport, unable to leave, and has pleaded for an end to his sentence instead of enduring a 'security risk' outside.
James has appealed to the British High Commission for temporary accommodation, highlighting he lacks an identity card to secure housing. Opposing his release, the ED argues against his claims based on Section 436A of the CrPC, stating these are misleading and lack merit.
