In a bid to escalate the investigation into the alleged phone tapping during the BRS regime in Telangana, Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar has urged for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry. Kumar expressed his lack of confidence in the existing probe conducted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the Congress government.

Speaking to reporters, Kumar alleged that despite the competency of SIT officers, their investigation is being stifled by political alliances between the Congress and BRS, leading to insufficient action on numerous commissions of inquiry established for various issues. He claims his calls, along with those of his family and BJP colleagues, were unlawfully monitored during his tenure as the BJP president in Telangana.

While submitting his statement and purported evidence to the SIT, Kumar reiterated his demand for a CBI probe to ensure a free and fair investigation. He also accused former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of orchestrating the surveillance, as part of a broader strategy involving the Special Intelligence Bureau, now under scrutiny for political espionage tactics.
