A shocking instance of misinformation unfolded as Assam Jatiya Parishad general secretary Jagadish Bhuyan reported to the cybercrime police station about a falsified letter bearing his signature.

The fake correspondence addressed to Raijor Dal chief Akhil Gogoi, circulated on social media, falsely suggested Bhuyan apologized for not notifying Gogoi about meetings with opposition leaders during his visit to Delhi.

The AJP leader provided evidence of social media posts involving the letter, calling for an urgent investigation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanita, 2023, and Information Technology Act, 2000, to unmask those responsible for this defamation.
