The Trinamool Congress has expressed serious doubts about the efficacy of the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal, voicing concern over potential disenfranchisement of genuine voters.
During a press conference in Delhi, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar clarified that the SIR aims to address existing flaws in the voter list, though he criticized parties disseminating misinformation about the process.
While TMC figures like Joyprakash Majumdar and Mahua Moitra publicly questioned the Commission's motives, the West Bengal opposition, led by BJP's Suvendu Adhikari, supported the SIR, suggesting it will weed out ineligible entries and ensure fair polling.
