Tragedy Strikes: Nigeria Mosque Attack Claims Lives

In a devastating assault in northwest Nigeria, gunmen killed at least 50 people and abducted around 60 in Katsina state's Malumfashi district. The attack targeted a mosque and nearby homes during the dawn Fajr prayer in Unguwan Mantau village.
According to witnesses, armed assailants on motorcycles opened fire inside the mosque and then moved through the community, torching homes. Aminu Ibrahim, a local lawmaker, reported that 30 individuals were shot dead and 20 were burned alive in the brutal assault.
Despite police interception attempts, the attackers fled, firing on residents and capturing women and girls. The incident highlights the escalating violence by gangs, or 'bandits,' in Nigeria's northwest, where abductions and extortion have become widespread.
