In a significant breakthrough, police arrested two suspects in connection with a murder case in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, after a tense confrontation, a senior officer confirmed on Tuesday.
The suspects, Wajid alias Bhura and Uwais, were apprehended following investigations involving CCTV footage and witness testimonies, which pointed to their involvement in the murder of Mohammad Salim alias Diwana on July 30, 2025, near a mosque in Hasimpura.
During a routine check on suspicious vehicles, police encountered Wajid, who attempted to flee and opened fire; he was injured during the exchange. His partner Uwais was later detained, and illegal firearms were recovered. Efforts to capture other suspects are ongoing.
