The Delhi Police on Tuesday unveiled two new patrolling initiatives in a bid to bolster security measures across central and north Delhi. Dubbed Jaguar Patrolling Motorcycles and Jhansi Patrolling Scooties, these units aim to enhance street-level policing and visibility.
In a ceremony officiated by Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order, Zone-I) Ravindra Singh Yadav at the iconic Red Fort, the initiative was launched at 11.30 am. The fleet comprises 71 motorcycles operated by male officers and 15 scooties manned by female personnel, all equipped with GPS tracking to ensure efficient coverage of mapped routes in crime-prone areas.
Significantly, the women-staffed Jhansi units will focus on patrolling near educational institutions and public spaces to boost safety for women, whereas Jaguar motorcycle teams will oversee traffic-heavy zones to quickly address street crimes. 'This project isn't just about enforcing law but building public confidence,' remarked Joint Commissioner of Police (Central) Madhur Verma.
