On Thursday, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Upendra Dwivedi, highlighted the urgency of expediting land acquisition in Arunachal Pradesh for timely completion of fundamental defense infrastructure projects.
In a meeting with state Governor, Lt Gen K T Parnaik (Retd), at Raj Bhavan, General Dwivedi also advocated for the creation of Zilla Sainik Boards in the state, aiming to bolster support for ex-servicemen and their families.
The COAS expressed concern over the low participation of Arunachali youth in the armed forces, urging increased awareness to inspire careers in defense. Governor Parnaik responded with calls for a collaborative approach under the Vibrant Village Programme, praising the Army's community engagement and support for local initiatives.
