On Friday, a Delhi court extended the police custody of Samir Modi by two days in response to allegations of rape. Modi, a relative of the fugitive businessman Lalit Modi, was apprehended at the Delhi airport upon his return from overseas.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Deepak Vats approved Delhi Police's request for an extended interrogation period, initially seeking three additional days. Modi's bail plea is expected to be reviewed on Saturday, according to court officials.
The case stems from a complaint filed by a woman accusing Modi of repeated sexual assault and deceit. She alleges Modi lured her with career opportunities in the fashion and lifestyle sector, ultimately leading to an alleged assault in New Friends Colony in December 2019.
