In a high-profile case that's captured the public's attention, the Patiala House Court in Delhi has granted additional time for police to argue against Gaganpreet Kaur's bail plea. Kaur stands accused in the BMW accident that tragically claimed the life of Navjot Singh, Deputy Secretary in the Finance Ministry.
During Wednesday's session, the Judicial Magistrate First Class extended Kaur's judicial custody until September 27, while also addressing a request to preserve crucial CCTV footage of the incident. The court is set to review this request imminently, highlighting the urgency and complexity of the ongoing trial.
Senior advocate Ramesh Gupta, representing Kaur, has labeled the case as a simple accident, questioning the necessity of severe charges such as culpable homicide. Gupta critiqued the investigation's integrity, scrutinizing the handling of witnesses and procedural adherence, amidst vigorous opposition from opposing legal representatives and law enforcement.
