In a heart-wrenching incident, a village defense guard in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, reportedly took his own life on Saturday morning. The authorities have identified the deceased as Tek Chand, a 45-year-old resident of Akra village in the Kuntwara area.

Sources revealed that Chand was deeply troubled after his teenage daughter, a class 10 student, went missing. Locals alleged that she had eloped with a local boy. Despite lodging a complaint with the police, Chand remained distressed, which may have prompted him to take this tragic step.

The police, reacting promptly to the incident, have sent Chand's body for a postmortem, with further investigations underway to unravel the precise circumstances surrounding his death. The body will be subsequently returned to Chand's family for the last rites.
