In response to a rising potential for unrest during the Dussehra festivities, security has been significantly increased across four districts in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly division. Authorities have taken this precaution to ensure safety and order, deploying security personnel on the streets and utilizing drones for aerial monitoring.
The government has ordered the suspension of internet services in Bareilly district for 48 hours, a move officials say is necessary to impede the misuse of social media platforms to spread rumors or incite communal tensions. This measure will be enforced from 3 pm on October 2 to 3 pm on October 4.
Following previous unrest on September 26 involving around 2,000 people, law enforcement remains on high alert. Home Secretary Gaurav Dayal emphasized the importance of these preventive actions to maintain public peace. Heatmaps show a concentrated police presence around key Dussehra venues, supported by intelligence agency alerts and continual monitoring to prevent disturbances from spreading regionally.
