Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday praised Michael Gloss, the 21-year-old American who died while aiding a Russian soldier in Ukraine, urging the American people to be proud of his service.

Gloss, who was a U.S. citizen and the son of a senior CIA official, lost his life when a Ukrainian drone struck him last year.
