Authorities in Maharashtra's Thane district have initiated legal action against a trader accused of stocking and selling firecrackers without the necessary permit, as confirmed by officials on Monday.
During a pre-Diwali inspection raid in Ulhasnagar on the night of October 8 and 9, officers discovered an extensive inventory of firecrackers valued at Rs 2,09,450.
The Vitthalwadi police clarified that the trader could not produce a valid license when questioned, leading to the immediate seizure of the goods and legal proceedings under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Explosives Act.
