A consumer forum has ordered Haldiram Marketing Private Limited to compensate a customer over Rs 20,000 for selling expired sweets. The forum labeled the company 'guilty of deficiency in service and unfair trade practices.'
The incident occurred on December 21 when Nimish Agarwal visited a Haldiram's outlet in Faridabad to purchase sweets. Agarwal accused the salesman of trying to sell expired sweets and concealing information by damaging the packaging.
The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, after reviewing the evidence provided by Agarwal, including photographs and videos, rejected Haldiram's defense. The forum directed the company to pay fines and compensation for the ordeal within 30 days.
