Supreme Court Dismisses Plea to Declare Netaji Bose 'National Son'

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL), which sought to declare Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose as India's 'National Son' and attribute the nation's independence to his Azad Hind Fauj (INA). The court firmly criticized the petitioner, Pinakpani Mohanty, labeling him 'incorrigible' for repeatedly filing baseless petitions.

The bench, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi, emphasized that similar pleas by Mohanty had been rejected earlier, and warned him against further misuse of the court's time. The Chief Justice reprimanded Mohanty for submitting redundant cases, suggesting that necessary restrictions might be imposed on his court access.

The PIL not only aimed for national recognition of Netaji's contributions but was deemed by the court as a mere attempt at gaining attention. Consequently, the court instructed its registry to refrain from accepting any future PILs filed by Mohanty, thereby settling the matter conclusively.
