Praniti Shinde, a Lok Sabha MP from Solapur and Congress leader, has accused the BJP of stalling the Women's Reservation Bill despite its passage in 2023. She claims the BJP is reluctant to implement the bill, a crucial piece of legislation that ensures 33 percent reservation for women, using political maneuvers to delay its enforcement.

Shinde criticized the BJP for linking the bill's implementation to the delimitation process based on outdated census data. She highlighted that the current census, due to be finalized by 2027, is expected to be digital, ensuring accurate and forthcoming representation in line with constitutional mandates.

Aradhana Mishra, leader of the Congress Legislative Party in the UP Assembly, challenged the BJP to showcase its commitment to women's empowerment by convening a special session of the Assembly. She urged the state government to forward a proposal advocating for the reservation to Prime Minister Modi's administration, pledging Congress's full support for the initiative.
