Uttarakhand has set a precedent in digital census efforts as more than 62,000 citizens completed self-enumeration between April 10 and April 23, marking the inaugural phase of Census 2027. Evolving the nation's data collection methods, this initiative represents India's first entirely mobile app-based census.

Director Eva Ashish Srivastava from the Directorate of Census Operations in the Ministry of Home Affairs disclosed during a press conference that Dehradun benefitted most from the digital transition, recording 10,884 participating residents.

The forthcoming 'Har Dwar, Dastak' campaign, slated from April 25 to May 24, will see over 20,000 enumerators survey households to collect data on amenities and assets. The initiative is fortified with a digital infrastructure, including mobile apps and digital mapping, ensuring thorough and efficient coverage.
