In a significant bust, law enforcement authorities seized over 10 quintals of poppy husk on Wednesday night, estimated to be worth around Rs 1.5 crore, and arrested a suspected smuggler in Sarsawa, as revealed by police on Thursday.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural), Mayank Pathak, disclosed that the arrest occurred after a strategic tip-off prompted officers to act swiftly.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Harveer, was caught at a defunct brick kiln near the highway bridge on Nakur road. Police recovered a portion of the contraband earlier and arrested him while attempting to move additional stock from a hut in the fields.
