Election Commission Takes Action Against West Bengal Police Officials

The Election Commission has mandated the suspension of five police officers in Diamond Harbour due to serious misconduct during West Bengal's assembly elections. This directive follows a report by the state's Chief Electoral Officer.

Officials deemed responsible include Additional Superintendent of Police Sandip Garai and four others, who allegedly failed to maintain neutrality. The commission underscored the importance of impartiality in safeguarding electoral integrity.

The state government has been instructed to comply with these orders promptly, sending a compliance report by April 25. Meanwhile, a warning has been issued to Superintendent of Police Ishani Pal for lacking oversight in ensuring fair conduct among her officers.
