The Supreme Court has declined to entertain a new petition by Indrani Mukerjea, who is accused in the murder of her daughter, Sheena Bora. The court suggested she approach the trial court handling her case while noting previous conditions set on her international travel requests.
Last year, the higher court had refrained from permitting her travel abroad and emphasized that any application for such relief should be directed to the lower court. The court stressed the urgency of resolving the issue, requesting a trial court ruling within four weeks.
Mukerjea was arrested following the revelation of her daughter's murder, allegedly carried out alongside her driver and ex-husband. Although released on bail in 2022 after a lengthy imprisonment, she continues to protest her innocence as the case proceeds.
