In the wake of a teenager's death earlier this month, prohibitory orders have been issued in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, as concerns over law and order take center stage. The state administration has banned all demonstrations and restricted any visits to the village to offer condolences to the bereaved family.
Accusations have surfaced from the Uttar Pradesh government, claiming that false rumors and attempts to sensationalize the matter are being orchestrated by opposition parties and 'mischievous elements.' Ghazipur District Magistrate Anupam Shukla has invoked Section 163 of the BNSS, banning political or group assemblies across the district until April 30.
The political scene has reacted strongly, with the Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav planning a visit to the village, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to inaugurate the Ganga Expressway in nearby Hardoi. Opposition leaders are clamoring for a high-level investigation into the alleged murder, while the UP government maintains that law and order must be preserved.
