Authorities in Palghar have cracked down on a fraudulent scheme involving a doctor and four others accused of fabricating medical documents to claim illicit insurance commissions. The discovery was made during a coordinated raid by police and municipal officers on a hospital in Nalasopara.
Led by a Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation medical officer, the raid revealed up to 80 fake letterheads and In-Patient Department papers from various hospitals. This scheme was uncovered despite initial evasions by the hospital staff, who claimed the facility was closed.
The operation led to a registered case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections for forgery and cheating. Essential items like computers and sonography reports were seized by the police as they continue their investigation into the situation.
