In a significant crackdown, Bhadohi police have managed to arrest Akash Gupta, a crucial member of an interstate trafficking gang. Gupta, apprehended in Meerut, had been absconding since securing bail in November 2025, following his earlier arrest.
Superintendent of Police, Abhinav Tyagi, revealed the operation on Tuesday, confirming Gupta's involvement in a notorious gang responsible for the kidnapping, rape, and sale of women and minors. This gang, consisting of members from various regions, operated with impunity until the law caught up with them.
Gupta, identified as a major player, was found to have purchased a minor for Rs 2 lakh and exploited her before attempting to sell her again. The victim's rescue occurred just in time, preventing further inhumane trafficking. Police efforts continue to crack down on such crime syndicates.
