Former spokesperson of the Manipur unit of the Janata Dal (United), Nimaichand Luwang, on Thursday joined the ruling BJP.
Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh and BJP state president Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi welcomed the veteran politician at a function held at the state headquarters of the saffron party.
Speaking to reporters, Luwang said, ''I didn't join the BJP for self-interests but to help bring peace and development to the state. My family members will also join the party.''.
