Supreme Court Calls for Grievance Redressal Mechanism in Courts

The Supreme Court on Monday initiated a call for grievance redressal committees to be formed countrywide. These committees are projected for high courts, district, and taluka courts to amicably resolve any friction between the bench and the bar.

This directive comes while the apex court was addressing petitions related to a viral video where an Andhra Pradesh High Court judge allegedly threatened a young advocate with judicial custody. The matter had sparked significant concern before being reportedly resolved internally prior to its spread on social media.

Highlighting the importance of patience and encouragement in judicial proceedings, especially with young legal professionals, the Supreme Court stressed an essential plea for media to act responsibly in sharing decontextualised content.
