Police in Jamshedpur claim to have solved the murder of a teenage girl following the arrest of Sonu Karmakar, according to a statement by Superintendent of Police (City) Lalit Meena. The young girl's body was discovered at a local government middle school on Saturday morning.
Karmakar, identified as a 20-year-old married man, developed a relationship with the victim, who was allegedly pressuring him to marry her. On a visit to the isolated school premises in Sopodera, an argument ensued, leading Karmakar to fatally strangle the girl in a fit of rage.
Authorities gathered crucial evidence which led to Karmakar's arrest at his residence in Birsanagar. The swift police action has brought some closure to the bereaved family, with Meena outlining the series of events at a press conference.
