In a significant operation, Belthangady police have dismantled an alleged prostitution racket reportedly operating from a local canteen. The alleged illegal activities took place at a canteen known as 'Pavan', located on KEB Road, Kasaba village, according to police reports.
The canteen owner, Sundar Shetty, alongside his associate Usman, was accused of orchestrating the racket for monetary gain by bringing women to the site and coercing them into the illegal trade. This information came to light following thorough investigations led by Police Sub-Inspector Sikandar Pasha.
Upon confirmation of these reports on May 10, law enforcement conducted a raid that concluded with the arrest of both suspects. They face serious charges under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, reinforcing the district's commitment to combat illegal activities.
