In a dramatic turn of events on Tuesday morning, two murder suspects sustained bullet injuries following a shootout with law enforcement officers in Odisha's Jharsuguda district. The confrontation occurred near Karlakhaman Government School in the Saguan forest region, according to police sources.
The suspects, identified as Sunil Mahananda, known as Tabu, and Chand Banchhor, were reportedly involved in the broad daylight murder of Rahul Mahato in the Belpahar area. The murder was allegedly preceded by a disagreement involving vehicle occupants and two motorcyclists, leading to a deadly attack with a large knife.
On engaging the fugitives at their hideout, police were met with gunshots, initiating a responsive exchange of fire. Both suspects experienced lower limb injuries and are currently hospitalized, awaiting court proceedings. Law enforcement officials emphasized their commitment to addressing violent crimes and ensuring the safety of their personnel.
