Drone Warfare Escalation: Hezbollah's Tactical Shift Amid Ceasefire in Lebanon
Hezbollah and Israel are intensifying a drone war in Lebanon, complicating peace efforts between Tehran and Washington. Hezbollah uses FPV drones to target Israeli troops during a fragile ceasefire. Both sides have suffered casualties, with the situation raising stakes in U.S.-mediated peace talks.
In the midst of stalled peace negotiations between Washington and Tehran, Hezbollah has intensified its drone warfare against Israeli forces in Lebanon. This development has complicated the fragile ceasefire that was agreed upon to de-escalate tensions in the region.
The Iran-backed group employs cost-effective and easy-to-assemble First Person View (FPV) kamikaze drones. These drones have showcased the ability to bypass Israel's advanced jamming technologies, targeting its troops who remain stationed in southern Lebanon. Despite the ceasefire aiming to prevent further conflict, hostilities persist.
This ongoing drone warfare comes amid U.S.-led efforts to mediate direct talks between Lebanon and Israel. Hezbollah, however, sees continued Israeli troop casualties as a means to force an Israeli withdrawal, emphasizing the group's strategy to exploit Israel's vulnerabilities despite facing their superior technology.
