Taliban Disputes Accusations Over Bannu Attack

The Afghan Taliban administration on Tuesday firmly denied allegations that militants based in Afghanistan were responsible for a deadly weekend attack in Bannu, northwestern Pakistan, which claimed the lives of 15 police officers.

A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, took to X to dismiss the accusations as baseless, rejecting any involvement in the incident. Mujahid expressed the Taliban's strong opposition to Pakistani officials' assertions that linked the attack to Afghanistan.

The statement has stirred diplomatic tensions between the two countries, adding a new layer of complexity to the already strained relations in the troubled region.
