Since early 2025, a disturbing trend has emerged in the occupied Palestinian territories, with the staggering toll of 70 children dead and over 800 injured, according to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
The majority of these casualties, primarily occurring in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, are the result of live ammunition used by Israeli forces. Others have suffered due to settler violence, including stabbings and beatings, UNICEF spokesperson James Elder confirmed during a briefing in Geneva.
Human rights organizations have expressed deep concern over the escalating violence by Israeli settlers and military forces since 2023. This ongoing crisis is exacerbated by the controversial Israeli settlements deemed illegal by the United Nations, though contested by Israel.
