Legal Battle Over Lincoln Memorial Pool Transformation

A nonprofit organization has filed a lawsuit aiming to halt President Donald Trump's renovation project at the Lincoln Memorial's reflecting pool. The Cultural Landscape Foundation alleges the project violates the National Historic Preservation Act, a federal law designed to safeguard historic properties.

The lawsuit seeks an emergency order to stop the changes, which plan to alter the pool's original gray stone appearance to an industrial coating resembling a blue swimming pool. "The dark grey, achromatic basin was integral to the design," the complaint asserts.

The lawsuit targets the Department of the Interior, which oversees the renovation. The department defended Trump, applauding his efforts to enhance Washington's landmarks. Trump claims the project was prompted by a friend's criticism of the reflecting pool's state.
