A hand grenade was recovered from a car near the Sugar Mill area on the Shahabad-Ladwa road, following the recent arrest of a suspected gangster, police reported.

The grenade, discovered in the vehicle's dashboard, was linked to Surya Pratap, a resident of Tangore village, during his interrogation by the Special Task Force (STF). Pratap reportedly admitted to plans of carrying out a blast for extortion purposes.

Security agencies have intensified their investigation to trace the grenade's source, believed to be of Chinese origin, and to uncover others involved in the plot. Measures have also been strengthened to secure the surrounding area.
