In a significant breakthrough, Maharashtra's Nashik police have apprehended Namkarn Aware, a known associate of the controversial godman Ashok Kharat. Aware, chairman of the Sinnar Taluka Co-operative Industrial Estate, faces allegations of financial misdeeds linked to a cooperative credit society under Kharat's influence.
The arrest follows mounting evidence of Aware's involvement in fraudulent activities, including facilitating fake account setups in the Jagdamba Mata Cooperative Credit Society. Aware's close ties with Kharat, who already faces grave accusations of sexual exploitation and large-scale financial fraud, are under scrutiny.
A Special Investigation Team is probing numerous allegations against Kharat. Meanwhile, the courts have mandated police custody for both Kharat and Aware as efforts intensify to untangle this web of financial deception and spiritual betrayal.
