West Bengal's Bold Steps for Women's Safety and Civic Transparency

West Bengal minister Agnimitra Paul has made a notable commitment to enhancing women's safety and freedom across the state. Speaking at the assembly, Paul declared that women should feel safe to move freely at any time, with a promise that police will prioritize handling their complaints.

Aligning with her vision of civic transparency, Paul announced the introduction of CCTV monitoring in civic bodies. The minister criticized previous administrations and highlighted ambitions to dismantle illegal toll plazas operated by alleged political cadres. She stressed that illegal activities like sand and coal mining will be curbed.

Additionally, Paul discussed upcoming elections and welfare programs aimed at empowering women. The Lakshmir Bhandar scheme's online enrollment is now open, and the Annapurna scheme will soon offer benefits to eligible women. The minister underlined plans to ensure fair access, stating that non-eligible individuals will be filtered out.
