Gadkari Promises Safer Pilgrimage Routes for Pandharpur Warkaris
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced major improvements for the annual warkari pilgrimage to Pandharpur, promising nearly completed work on dedicated routes and safety features, including pedestrian lanes and foot over bridges. The projects aim to ensure a safer, organized pilgrimage with significant environmental and infrastructure upgrades.

Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, asserted on Thursday that nearly 80% of the upgrades for the annual warkari pilgrimage to Pandharpur in Maharashtra have been completed, aiming for a seamless and safer journey for pilgrims.
Gadkari highlighted important safety measures, including a 3.5-meter wide pedestrian lane specifically for warkari pilgrims, separating them from vehicular traffic. Several Foot Over Bridges, equipped with electric lifts, are being installed for ease of movement for senior citizens and the specially-abled.
The construction of Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Marg and Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Marg is progressing, with significant environmental contributions like the creation of 46 lakes. The government is utilizing innovative technologies to ensure the durability and strength of bridges and roads.
