Neo-Nazi Leader Sentenced: A Campaign of Hate Thwarted

Michail Chkhikvishvili, a 22-year-old from Georgia known as 'Commander Butcher,' received a 15-year prison sentence for his role in orchestrating a series of neo-Nazi plots against Jewish and racial minorities. A federal judge in Brooklyn delivered the sentence on Wednesday, following Chkhikvishvili's guilty plea in November.

Authorities described Chkhikvishvili as the leader of the Maniac Murder Cult, an extremist group that used social media platforms like Telegram to promote violence. Prosecutors highlighted his creation of the 'Hater's Handbook,' which has allegedly inspired violent acts, including a school shooting in Nashville.

Chkhikvishvili expressed remorse in a letter to the court, yet prosecutors emphasized the danger he posed, citing his attempts to recruit individuals for bombings and poison attacks. Despite his lawyer's appeal for leniency due to mental health struggles, the court ruled firmly against him.
