The Delhi High Court's recent decision to transfer the contentious excise-policy case involving Arvind Kejriwal is being hailed as a win for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The move comes after Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma decided to reassign the case due to contempt proceedings against Kejriwal and other AAP leaders.
Reacting to the court's decision, AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal declared, ''Truth has triumphed,'' echoing sentiments of Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy of Satyagraha prevailing yet again. The case's reassignment is seen by AAP leaders as a significant victory amidst an alleged conflict of interest that had been previously claimed against Justice Sharma.
Justice Sharma, who felt vilified by social media posts from AAP leaders, clarified she was only transferring the case to maintain judicial propriety, while the Central Bureau of Investigation's petition will now proceed under a different bench's scrutiny.
