Philippines Promise ICC Cooperation in Dela Rosa Arrest
The Philippines has vowed to cooperate with the ICC's arrest warrant for Senator Ronald 'Bato' dela Rosa. Dela Rosa, the former police chief under President Duterte's anti-drug campaign, is wanted for alleged crimes against humanity. Despite his escape, Justice Secretary Vida assures compliance with the ICC's request.
The Philippine justice minister announced that the country will cooperate with the International Criminal Court (ICC) in executing an arrest warrant for Senator Ronald 'Bato' dela Rosa.
Dela Rosa is implicated in crimes against humanity stemming from the controversial anti-drug campaign during former President Duterte's administration. Although Dela Rosa evaded capture, Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida emphasized the country's commitment to the ICC's request.
Despite Senator Dela Rosa's appeal to the Supreme Court and temporary escape, his whereabouts remain unknown. He disputes the ICC's jurisdiction following the Philippines' 2019 exit from the Rome Statute, while former President Duterte faces trial at The Hague.
