Karnataka is gearing up for an extensive revision of its electoral rolls as part of a nationwide effort involving 16 states and three Union territories. The drive, revealed by CEO Anbu Kumar, targets over 5.55 crore electors within the state.
The Election Commission's schedule outlines preparation, training, and printing activities from June 20 to June 29, followed by house-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers from June 30 to July 29. The draft electoral roll is set to be published on August 5, initiating a phase for claims and objections, which concludes with the final electoral roll release on October 7.
The revision process, described as participative and transparent, requires collaboration between electors, political parties, and the election machinery. Recognised parties are urged to appoint Booth Level Agents to bolster transparency. Further details can be accessed through official electoral websites.
